It's kind of neat to hear voices of people from MLW.  I found myself listening to the sounds of both Maryscott's and Pyhrro's voices just as much as I was listening to WHAT they were saying about the various topics, which seemed to be rather emotional.  It seemed that you were cheered up by talking to Pyrrho, Maryscott.  That's good to notice.  I saw the first two Superman movies:  Superman I and Superman II, with Christopher Reeves and enjoyed them both very much.  I haven't seen any other sequences of Superman since, and I probably won't .  Sequels and remakes of movies, with relatively few exceptions, are generally disastrous, imo.  I'd sure as hell would hate to see them remake the great classic film, West Side Story!  THAT would be a disaster in more ways than one, imo.  It would just cut the heart and soul right out of this great classic.

Regarding Israel vs. Hezboillah and the rest of the Arab/muslim world in the mideast, expecially:  Frankly, even though I'm not religious, I do believe that Israel not only has a right to exist, but exists out of necessary:  To normalize the Jewish people, so they, too, would have some protection against a repeat of the pogroms, inquisitions, and all the crusades, that ultimately led up to the final solution. At the same time, however, the Palestinians need THEIR own separate state ALONGSIDE israel in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, as a means of normalizing the Palestinians so that they, too will have a homeland and be protected against persecution and pollitical exploitation by the rest of the ARab world.  Jerusalem should be and was supposed to be an international city.  Both Israeli Jews and Palestinians have a right to self-determination and to have their OWN separate states, which will enable them to each do that.  It's a fact that over the years, they have both victimized each other AND their own people as well.  All that being said, given the long, long history of atrocities on BOTH sides, as well as the other above-mentioned reasons, the 2-state solution is the only safe, sane solution to the whole conflict, as well.  Israel  must pull out of Gaza, West Bank and EAst Jerusalem COMPLETELY, and withdraw her troops, settlers and settlements, for they don't belong in those territories.  With regards to Israel's incursion into Lebanon to swat Hezbollah:  I agree that I really DON'T like the idea of war.  Peace  has to be the solution to the problem, and, unfortunately, ceasefires never seem to hold, or at least not for long.  However, it might be one thing if Israel had just simply gone in, hit specific Hezbollah targers, and then pulled right out again, instead of pushing so deep into Lebanon and devastating it so.  All told, there are times when I really DON'T know what the hell to say or think about situations like the mideast, and other situations.  Most Israeli Jews and/or many Palestinians also want the 2-state solution, and it has to happen sooner or later.
Having said all of the above, I firmly believe, that, over the long  run and over  a great many years, there is plenty of blame to go around on boh sides--on the part of Israel AND on the part of the Arab World, generally, including the Palestinian leadership.

I didn't like this Superman, though the movie was fun enough... the scenes where Superman relaxes in the stratosphere were worth the whole movie right there...

maybe I should call and tag these as "undiluted" rather than conversations... I do come with some points to cover... but Maryscott is a bit hard to herd, to say the least... impossible actually except by surprise tactics and reverse reverse psychology (just kidding Maryscott, if only I could get a couple steps ahead of you... no usually the way it works is I just keep seeming slow witted until I evoke some sympathy and you slow down and let me see where things are going... so in other words everyone, I only seem slow witted those times)...

but often I find I like to keep in the ringing, calling someone is sort of part of it, we so far are not about to pretend we are produced, we are direct in that we are not... we try to have something to keep us going, something relavant at least to what goes on already at MLW for reference... but I thought I'd keep it in because once more I think it emphasizes what's really going on...

A couple of times I started to jump in with a comment. It was so funny. In a sense I felt like I was reading a diary and also felt like I was listening to a realtime conversation.

I actually got a couple of ideas for diaries from your conversation because you guys talked about some things I'm really interested it.

... on the 26'th story of a 50 story building and a few guys were drinking at the bar and a guy watching them talk.  After a lot of talk one of them says, "you know, this building has a really strange quirk from the way it was built... there is a powerful updraft, if you jump out of that window there, third one over, you'll fall like ten stories and then the wind will catch you and blow you right back up."  Well, the other guy doesn't believe, and just when it seems like he'll drop it the first guy says, "I'll show you"... he goes over to the window and instead of dropping something, he flings himself out the window drunkenly.

He sails toward the bottom in a freefall but then slows about ten floors down and starts to get lifted by the updraft which blows him right back up to the window, where he is able to scramble in.  "Try it!" he says to the other guy.

So the other guy tries it, he climbes into the window and leaps, whereupon he hurtles 26 floors to the pavement to his death, crushed by the impact.

The bartender says to the guy watching, "Man that Superman is a mean ass drunk".

I wouldn't assume that Kos means churches, per se.  The megachurch "movement" seems to be to be less about religion and more about community.  They stand in for what used to be done by the Rotary, etc.

So maybe what Kos is going for is something that serves that organizational/communitarian need and not necessarily something religious.

Procrastination: Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now.
