This won't be much of a diary, but the news (how often is it good) deserved some attention. Here in Indiana, the legislature was debating a series of terrible anti-abortion statutes, from new (and impossible) requirements in existing physican plants without grandfathering, in abortion clinics only, to requirements that doctors give false information to patients that life begins at conception and that the fetus can feel pain.
People here REALLY spent some time and made some calls. Perhaps South Dakota was a good wake up call. Well, the last of the bills passed out of the House, but died at midnight, when the Senate gavel fell without it being heard. Not a single one of the terrible bills passed. It's all sure to be back next year, but for now, in this one little place, we won one.
