I spoke with Bonddad about his list "The Six Major Problems of the Current US Economy" (crossposted at bopnews.com, MLW, dKos).
I came to understand his list as a framework of interrelated ideas. Bonddad's contribution is presentation for a layman such as myself of the meaning of these of six crucial areas of the economy, as well as a contemporary analysis of each. Each is a familiar political phrase, the names for an aspect of the US economy. Bonddad ties them together. His list is useful for communicating about the politics of economics.
These are the areas we must invent solutions for, each item is a comprehensible aspect of the national economy. We each might have solutions, and we all should be able to articulate policies acceptable to progressives and liberals.
The six problem areas are:
- weak job growth
- static wages
- consumer debt
- poor savings rate
- national debt
- the trade deficit
